Warm welcoming event for international students to their new house
August 23, 2019 at 17:30 p.m. – Khon Kaen University by Division of Foreign Affairs and International Students held the International Student Day 2019 under the theme “Cowboy and Cowgirl Party” at the Foundation Skill Development and Lecture Building. Asst. Prof. Dr. Pipat Ruangsaeng, Assistant to the President for Digital University Development presided over the event, which was held to welcome the new 2019 students from overseas, to let them meet their professors and contact personnel, and to build a network of international students in KKU. Over 300 students joined.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Pipat Ruangsaeng, Assistant to the President for Digital University Development said, “Welcome all new students of 2019 to Khon Kaen University and to the International Student Day, “Cowboy and Cowgirl Party”. I’m happy that you have chosen to travel a long way to study at Khon Kaen University. Our university is well prepared in all aspects to take care of international students, which we see as very important. We are famous as an institution with good environment. We also aim at building a safe and loving place for all, just like you are a member of the family because we want you to be impressed of KKU. The event today is especially held to promote good relationships between you and professors and officers who will from now on look after you until you complete your program.”
The activities in the international student day 2019 “Cowboy and Cowgirl Party” included games and performances of each nationality, such as Rakhine Traditional Dance by students from Myanmar, My new swag by Chinese students, MOT THOANG QUE HUONG by Vietnamese students, Dance Workout by Lao students, Toki Gaba-Gaba by Indonesian students, and Pailin Peacock Dance and Robam Lay Chhom Chan from Cambodian students. Participants then had dinner together.
Miss Verena Piwonka, a student from Germany, who is studying at Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences said that she just arrived and would start the first semester this year. The reason for coming here was that her friend who used to study here told her that Khon Kaen University has good environment for studying and is a famous university in the Northeast of the country. She herself is interested in Thai culture and language especially Isan dialect. She is impressed with the welcoming and the beautiful surrounding as her friend told her.
Miss Visana Khathovmphom, a student from Lao PDR, who is studying in Faculty of Medicine said that she chose this faculty so that she could go back to help treat people because the reputation of Faculty of Medicine here is very good. She feels impressed with the warm welcome and intends to study hard to complete her program.
There are 173 international students enrolling to Khon Kaen University this year. At present there are altogether 527 full-time students from overseas.
