KKUSP Ignites Startup Scene with Over 1 Million Baht in Funding for Student Ventures

Khon Kaen University’s Science Park (KKUSP) is making waves in the Thai startup ecosystem with the launch of “Nextgen SynergyX Batch 1,” a groundbreaking initiative designed to propel student entrepreneurs into the world of business. On March 6, 2025, KKUSP celebrated the program’s inaugural event, showcasing a new community model for startups that have secured funding through various KKUSP-backed projects.

Dr. Apirachai Wongsriworaphol, Director of KKUSP, highlighted the park’s crucial role in empowering students to become the next generation of business leaders. The event, held at the Northeastern Regional Science Park’s Administrative Building, also featured the presentation of funding plaques totaling over 1 million baht. University deans, staff, and students from diverse faculties gathered to congratulate the emerging startups of “Nextgen SynergyX Batch 1.”

           
           

The funded projects span a range of innovative products and services, demonstrating the breadth of talent and creativity fostered at Khon Kaen University. The initiatives and their respective teams include:

 

  1. Research to Market Program

This program saw funding awarded to Team Nanowipe, creators of a nano-carbon oil blotting paper, developed by students from the Graduate School of Management.

  1. Startup Thailand League

Three teams secured funding through this league:

          
  • Team Begin Bright 3D: Producing 3D printing filament from waste materials (Faculty of Engineering).
  • Team Bu’r (Be You Are): Innovating with an acne patch applicator stick (Faculty of Business Administration and Accounting).
  • Team Cancer Care: Developing preliminary cancer risk screening kits, based on research by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Theerapong Puangmali (Department of Physics, Faculty of Science) and students from the Faculty of Business Administration and Accounting.
  •          
  1. TED Youth Startups Program

This program provided funding to three promising teams:

  • Team Nano Titanz: Offering a shoe-coating spray for water and dirt stain prevention (Faculty of Science).
  • Team Bu’r (Be You Are): Also funded in this category for their acne patch applicator stick (Faculty of Business Administration and Accounting).
  • Team Kerb Took Aoa Pai 0.5: Creating a powdered chicken feed supplement from plant protein with added synbiotics, based on research by Asst. Prof. Dr. Kantiya Petchsong (Faculty of Technology) and students from the Faculty of Business Administration and Accounting.

  1. Business Brotherhood Program

 

Four teams received support through this program:

  • Team Kerb Took Aoa Pai 0.5: Also funded here for their chicken feed supplement (Faculty of Technology and Faculty of Business Administration and Accounting).
  • Team Nagoyash: Producing crispy puffed rice snacks (Faculty of Business Administration and Accounting).
  • Team Synlor: Developing a hair color-locking serum with pomegranate extract (Faculty of Business Administration and Accounting).
  • Team Yig Yig: Creating dog cookies from Wolffia (Green Caviar) for sustainable health (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine).
  1. University Business Incubator Program

Three teams benefited from this incubator program:

  • Team Chaya: Producing herbal essential balm sticks (Faculty of Business Administration and Accounting and the International College).
  • Team OLENNA: Developing sunscreen cream (Faculty of Business Administration and Accounting).
  • Team Yugen Bite: Creating cricket powder seasoning for rice (Faculty of Economics).
  •                
  1. New Regional Startups Program (P1)
  • Team Begin Bright 3D: Also funded in this category for their 3D printing filament from waste materials (Faculty of Engineering).

“Nextgen SynergyX” represents a significant step in bridging the gap between academic research and commercial success. By fostering an entrepreneurial mindset and providing crucial funding, KKUSP is preparing students to become future-ready business leaders.
