KKU Library gears forward a research on Smart City development for eight keys offices in Khon Kaen who have entered agreement with KKU on its smart city project.
On June 14th, 2019, at Kaenphoom room2 of Khon Kaen city Hall, a team of KKU library members led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wanida Gan-Argart, a director of KKU library, hosted a meeting with 7 key offices from Khon Kaen in an attempt promote Khon Kaen as a smart city. The offices took part in the meeting were; 1) Khon Kaen Provincial Office, 2) Khon Kaen Municipality Office, 3) Khon Kaen District Office, 4) Khon Kaen Administration Office, 5) Khon Kaen Environmental office 10, 6) Khon Kaen Land Office, and 7) Khon Kaen Airport. On 4 February, 2019 KKU and its seven allies signed a memorandum on a cop-attempt to develop smart city.
The meeting was aimed to disseminate ideas on the management of smart city’s amenities such as Smart Trash, Smart Parking, Kan Application, and the effective use of CCTV to the offices in the vicinity of Khon Kaen. Smart Infrastructure was discussed to prompt Khon Kaen for steady growth.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wanida Kanarkard, a director of KKU library and smart city researcher, said following the MOU to develop a Smart City in Khon Kaen, KKU has developed some interventions for Smart City. The innovations developed by KKU such as; Smart Trash, Smart Parking, Kan Application, and the effective use of CCTV, have already been put for service in the vicinity of Khon Kaen. The next step of implementation is to acknowledge these technology to the public and publicize how technology has been used for effective city management. KAN Smart City is an application that includes all Smart City systems into it. The application is application for both iOS and Android.
