KKU joins DEP and over 90 MOU allies to sustainably develop the disabled quality of life

Friday July 12, 2024 – Khon Kaen University attended the 17th  seminar on persons with disabilities 2024 under the topic, “Quality of Life of the Disabled for Sustainable Society on the Occasion of the 72nd Birthday of His Majesty the King”. The event was organized by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEP) ; Udon Thani Rajabhat University and over 90 academic allies related to the disabled. Over 1600 people attended including students, academicians, the Disabled network, other networks and entrepreneurs. The event was organized at Sam Phrao Education Center, Udon Thani Rajabhat University, Udon Thani.

Prof. Thidarat Boonmars, Ph.D., Vice President for Enterprise and Sustainable Society, Khon Kaen University, assigned by the President, signed the MOU for academic collaboration in quality of life development with 90 academic institutions and related networks. The seminar was organized in Hybrid format both Onsite and Online.

 

Prof. Thidarat Boonmars, Ph.D. Vice President for Enterprise and Sustainable Society, Khon Kaen University, said, “The promotion and development of the disabled directly corresponds to the operation of Khon Kaen University, Strategy 4, Tactic 3, on promoting and supporting community and society strength. Besides, at present, Khon Kaen University, has been using the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal as the operational framework. Under this MOU, there are 5 relevant SDGs, namely, SDG 4 on education, SDG 5 on gender equality and support for disabled females and children, SDG 8 on decent work and economic growth, SDG 10 on reducing inequality for the disabled to have access to resources and services, and SDG 11 on sustainable and friendly cities and communities where the disabled have access to. Therefore, the MOU is in accordance with, and supports the operations of Khon Kaen University towards the United Nation’s sustainable development goals.”

 

Khon Kaen University is proud to be part of the academic collaboration that brings impacts on the quality of life of the disabled in Thai society. The collaboration will enhance and open up a chance for the disabled to have access to quality education and participate in sustainable social development.
