KKU and a Japanese Industrial Company holds a seminar to share their successful experience in environmental problem solution

Wednesday November 11, 2020 at the Smart Classroom, Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN, Khon Kaen University – The Mathematics Study Research Institute, Mathematics Competency Certification Institute, Japan, and TOYO System Co. Ltd., held a seminar on University-Industry Collaboration. Assoc. Prof. Maitree Inprasitha, Ph.D., Vice President for Education and Academic Service of Khon Kaen University and Mr. Hideki Shoji, President of TOYO System Company gave an opening speech and welcomed over 20 participants.

The “University-Industry Collaboration Seminar; KKU and CRME, Thailand with TOYO System and MCIJ, Japan” was aimed at raising awareness among student participants in the environmental problems in Thailand and public benefits, enabling participants to develop innovation, inspiring them in educational participation, and corporate social responsibility, by listening to the operations of the world-class industrial company.

Assoc. Prof. Maitree Inprasitha, Ph.D., Vice President for Education and Academic Service said that the key objective of the special talk by Mr.Hideki Shoji, President of TOYO System Company was to raise awareness among Thai people, the young generation in particular, who will be responsible for Thai society in the future.

“Mr. Hideki Shoji, President of TOYO System has strong intention to transfer his experiences from 30 years of work in this field. It is a good chance for us today to learn from him how to think and do. On behalf of the Education and Academic Service Section of Khon Kaen University, we believe this collaborative activity will lead to other joint activities in the future. Today, Mr. Hideki Shoji mentioned about community and local participation to develop human resources through environmental problem solution. The most important foundation is mathematics, which is used in compiling information. If mathematics knowledge is missing, the problem cannot be solved. In his talk, there will be presentations of pictures, video, television news and activities of the company. Examples will be given on successful environmental problem solution,” Assoc. Prof. Maitree said.

Mr. Hideki Shoji gave his talk in Japanese, Assoc. Prof. Maitree translated into Thai for the participants. The talk covered the environmental issues and the use of technologies and expertise of TOYO System, which is situated in Iwaki, Fukushima, Japan. The company’s solution of problems has been done by involving communities, with festivals organized in order to transfer knowledge in the company’s battery development and technology.

TOYO System is a company that manufactures the reserve battery testing system. The company’s customers include battery companies, automotive battery and appliance companies, national organizations, academic institutions that deal with research and battery development, medium and small-enterprises working on battery.
