The MOU signing for academic collaboration in the Financial Management of Research and Academic Service Project, which is under the KKU Research Transformation policy between Khon Kaen University and UOB is aimed at developing the research cash disbursement system and efficient as well as quick cash management of research work. This project was initiated by the administration section of KKU by Asst. Prof. Tala Thammaroj, M.D., Vice President for Administration together with the research and graduate study section and UOB (Public Company) to develop a new system.

Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University said that Khon Kaen University’s collaboration with UOB this time is for developing the research cash disbursement system, issuing receipts, and disbursement of various expenditures related to research work, all of which will be performed digitally. This will result in promptness and real-time operations, allowing researchers to work more easily, while documentation is reduced. It will be an example in the use of digital technology in finance and accounting. At the beginning, the research receiving external grants is managed under the new system. Luckily, there is the KKU FMIS already in use, so when the new system has been completed, it will be connected to KKU FMIS and the financial management will totally be digitalized. Khon Kaen University in fact cooperates with many banks such as the Siam Commercial Bank and Bangkok Bank and others. Each bank has its own specific expertise. UOB is specialized in the digital disbursement system and has collaborated with many universities in Thailand. The developed system can be used with the former system of KKU and will reduce steps to set up the operation. Khon Kaen University is happy to work with other private banks depending on the readiness of each bank and appropriateness in integration of work for the benefits of the university.

Mr. ANDY CHEAH SHU KHEEM, Country Head of Wholesale Banking, UOB Banking Co.ltd. said that UOB is pleased to sign an MOU for cash management service and for development of KKU’s disbursement system. The service will be through an electronics system, which will increase the efficiency of work and reduce cost in the operation. It will partially expedite KKU’s progress in KKU Research Transformation. Mr. Andy, Chia Chu Kim finally thanked Khon Kaen University for choosing UOB, saying that he hoped UOB will be able to provide other services to the university in the future.
