On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the Christian Foundation for the Blind in Thailand, on April 1st, 2024, at the KhonKaen School for the Blind in Khon Kaen Province, Associate Professor Supat Sinawat, MD, the director of KKU Library (Khon Kaen University Library) attended the ceremony and received a certificate of recognition in honor of KKU library’s persistent contribution to support learning of visually impaired people. This recognition was bestowed by Mr.Kraisorn Kongchalad, the Provincial Governor of Khon Kaen (acting on behalf of Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister), acknowledging the KKU Library’s consistent support as an organization for the visually impaired learning community in Thailand under the Royal Patronage.
The KKU Library, serving as a central hub for lifelong learning for all, is dedicated to supporting lifelong learning for people of all genders and ages, recognizing the diverse limitations and needs of its users. In pursuit of this mission, the library has fostered collaborations with various internal and external stakeholders, including communities and organizations, to support learning through innovative services.
In collaboration with the KhonKaen School for the Blind and the Educational Technology Center for The Blind, in Khon Kaen, the KKU Library has ensured that students, scholars, and the general public with visual impairments or blindness have equal access to learning resources. This is achieved through the production of audiobooks, an effective learning medium tailored for the visually impaired or those with limitations in vision, ensuring equal access to knowledge for lifelong learning.
The recognition received by the KKU Library underscores its commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in education, contributing significantly to the empowerment and education of visually impaired individuals in Thailand.
