Faculty of Education, KKU, joins SWU in China to prepare high-quality man power in education, an answer to education disruption

November 20-23, 2023 – Dean of the Faculty of Education, Assoc. Prof. Issara Kanjak, Ph.D.; Assoc. Prof. Jarunee Chamart, Ph.D., Vice Dean for Education and Academic Service; and Dr. Naruporn Wutthipan, Chairman of the Chinese Language Teaching Program, went to Southwest University (SWU), Chongqing, China, for the meeting on curricular administration of the joint program of the two institutions.

The visit and the meeting was aimed at principally promoting and developing students in the following activities: 1) KKU students going to observe classrooms and obtain experiences in Chinese schools, 2) new group of students under the new program studying in China, and 3) SWU is prepared to support accommodation and allowances for KKU students while studying at SWU.

The executives from the two institutions also discussed the learning outcomes of KKU lecturers and students at SWU, which were at good level, as reflected and appreciated by the teaching team. In addition, the Dean of the Faculty of Education and his team had a meeting with 2 more faculties there to discuss academic collaboration, namely, 1) Prof. Zheyuan Yu, Dean of the International College and Asst. Prof. Jun Geng, Assistant to the Dean of the International College, to discuss the developing of an MOA for exchange of students and lecturers for development of educational innovations and a Certificate Program for Lifelong Learning in the form of Micro-Credentials; 2) Prof. Xuekin Zhang, Director of the Institute for Studies of Education and Psychology of Ethnic Minorities in Southwest China; the Deputy Director and the lecturers of the Institute, to discuss cooperative training under a PhD Program in Education. The Institute also informed the KKU delegation on the details of the 10 PhD students, who passed the selection criteria and are coming to study the PhD program in educational administration at the Faculty of Education next year. As reported by the Institute, there were as many as 300 people interested to apply for the program. The Dean took this opportunity to give more details about the 6 PhD programs of the Faculty of Education. All of these programs are now strong and ready to enter collaboration in the future. SWU expressed interest in sending students to study in these programs, especially in educational innovation development for the future. SWU is also ready to accept lecturers from the Faculty of Education, KKU in academic and research exchange programs and as visiting lecturers for a short period at SWU.

This is another strong network, the collaborative activities of which have been ongoing for a long time that will open up a chance for the Faculty of Education of Khon Kaen University in competitive competency at an international level.
