Tuesday August 9, 2022 – Faculty of Sciences, Khon Kaen University, met the news correspondents to release news about the 2022 National Science Week, which is scheduled on August 17-19, 2022. The theme this year is “Bio-Circular Green Economy (BCG)”. Assoc. Prof. Piansak Pakdee, Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relation and Asst. Prof. Angkana Boonyued, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Sciences led the KKU administrators to meet the press. The news release was organized at Wittayawipas Room 1, Wittayawipas Building, Faculty of Sciences, Khon Kaen University.
Assoc. Prof. Piansak Pakdee, Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relation explained that Khon Kaen University sees the importance of sciences and technologies, which are the fields with key roles in the community, social, economy and national development. KKU always supports and promotes different activities at the National Science Week. The important goal is to disseminate the work outcomes in sciences and technologies in a broad circle. The Ministry of Science and Technology sets the period for holding this special occasion all over the country in August, and the event has been organized every year since 1985. The Faculty of Sciences of Khon Kaen University is the center for the festival organization, and the event here in KKU can be considered the biggest in the Northeast, with a great number of school and university students as well as the public coming to the event every year.
“This project has brought collaboration among all that are related to the development of sciences in the country. It is aimed at building attitudes, concepts and awareness among the youths of the country so that they see the importance of sciences and technologies. The event also screens representative school students from different scientific contests to represent the region at the national venue,” said Assoc. Prof. Piansak.
Asst. Prof. Angkana Boonyued, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Sciences added, “The activities in the National Science Week at the Faculty of Sciences, Khon Kaen University, are under the collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Science Council of Thailand under the Royal Patronage, the National Scientific Museum Organization, and Khon Kaen University. The theme this year is “Bio-Circular Green Economy (BCG)”. The objectives are to honor the scientific and technological competency of King Rama IV, who was the “Father of Thai Sciences”, and to have the youths and people in general see the importance of the National Science Day, as well as to encourage the youths and the public to be more interested in sciences. The other objective is to publicize the work and research outcomes in sciences, technologies, and innovations among the public.”
“The event this year features contests in scientific communications or “Sit Talks” and “AI for All”, which will be held on August 19. The other activities include exhibitions of academic works, research studies, and works of science students in different fields such as the exhibition on Planetarium of the Astronomy Club, the exhibition of the environmental science, the exhibition of the micro-biological science, the exhibition of micro-organisms and bio-economy, micro-organisms and circular economy, micro-organisms and green economy, and alternative energy,” ended the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences.
