February 17, 2020, 10:00 a.m. at Wang Lert Room – Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy held an online (Video Conference) LOI signing ceremony between the Faculty and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University presided over the ceremony and conveyed an opening address. Assoc. Prof. Pensri Charoenwanit, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy signed the Letter of Intent as the representative of the Faculty. Assoc. Prof. Pensri then presented an appreciating speech. On the part of CIMA, Mr. Venkkat Ramanan, FCMA, CGMA, Regional Vice President, Asia Pacific represented CIMA, while Ms. Ginny Lim, ACMA, CGMA, Senior Regional Manager, South East Asia introduced the institute. Ajarn Chonlada Pharino, Ph.D., a full-time lecturer of the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, KKU, acted as an MC of the ceremony. The Faculty’s lecturers, administrators and a number of news reporters attended.
Ajarn Ploypailin Kitkasiwat, Ph,D., Assistant to the Dean for International Affairs and Communication and a lecturer of the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy presented a speech about the background of the LOI. The LOI is made in order to set the principles and guidelines for CIMA and KKBS to collaborate in instructional activities such as being trainers or coaches in the CIMA Business Games and in supporting KKBS’ students to join in the training activities or examinations for the professional license that is issued by CIMA. Moreover, there will be other activities to develop business and accountancy skills for the students of the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, Khon Kaen University.
At the event, a new program of the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy was introduced to the public under the name of a Bachelor’s Degree Program in Accountancy (International Program). This program will provide a chance for students to experience the science of accountancy from industrial entrepreneurial venues. The program expects to prepare accountants with experience from working in industrial offices who possess a strategic thinking skill. The program will be the first international school in accountancy that takes 3 years of coursework and one year of practicum in a business venue. The program receives exemption of accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) for Certificate in Business Accounting Examination. The program will be opened for both Thai and foreign students.
