KKU has brought knowledge from research work to develop the community and has supported the staff and people in general to have access to services arising from research work in order to effectively and sustainably improve the quality of life of the people.

“One of the roles of Khon Kaen University all through the past 50 years is dedication to the society. Research work therefore has been directed towards solution of Isan problems. The continuing research and competency that drives KKU towards being a world-class university can be categorized into many aspects, such as research on cholangiocarcinoma and liver fluke disease, which received financial support from England at an amount of 1,000,000 pounds. One objective is to proactively solve the problems in Lao PDR. If the problems there are solved, the work will be a step taken to reach the international level. Another objective is to solve the northeastern poverty problem so that the people are able to subsist and their quality of life improved. There are also other research studies the outcomes of which can upgrade Isan people’s quality of life. The event today is part of the research work and activities implemented by KKU. There are the booths for screening cholangiocarcinoma by ultra sound, diagnosis of renal failure, exhibition that provides knowledge and consultation, rabies vaccination, tick and flea removal for pets, providing knowledge related to farming. I’m really grateful to lecturers, researchers, supporting staff and organizations, and all of the working group, especially the research and technology transfer section that have on the most part made the event today successful and useful to the society. This is our pride, to dedicate ourselves to the community,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kittichai said.

Mrs. Thongsai Nakhok, a 64-year old lady who came to receive physical check-up said that she was very happy she was here today. Khon Kaen University officers have provided transportation from home. I had my urine checked, blood pressure measured, blood tested. It is convenient because I don’t need to go to hospital. The officers gave good service and they all wear smiling faces. I have cholesterol and was advised about food and exercise. Thank you Khon Kaen University for the activities today,” Mrs. Thongsai said.
