Khon Kaen University moves forward with the Zero Food Waste project, aiming to become a sustainable green university.

Khon Kaen University (KKU) reaffirms its commitment to being a leader in environmental conservation and sustainable development by initiating the “Zero Food Waste” project, which aims to reduce the amount of food waste within the university in a tangible way. This project not only reduces the impact on the environment, but also aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal 12 on ensuring sustainable production and consumption patterns. The latest survey on food waste at KKU found that KKU generates an average of 661 kilograms of food waste per day from 26 canteens within the university, excluding food waste from student and staff dormitories. This figure reflects the urgent need to systematically manage food waste. Zero Food Waste Project Operations The Zero Food Waste project of KKU has received full support from senior executives, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thidarat Boonmas, Vice President for Sustainable Enterprises and Society, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chuphong Thongkamsamut, Vice President for Physical and Environmental Affairs, with operations in several areas, as follows: 1.
