Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, KKU, by the Center of Excellence for MICE Industry and Business Events, organized a workshop and data collection for the project (U2T) to create a database of local fabrics to support the development of a world handicraft city.

Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, Khon Kaen University, represented by the Center of Excellence in MICE and Business Events, reported the results of the Integrated Economic and Community Upgrading Project (U2T) One Sub-district, One Khon Kaen University, Huai Toei Sub-district, Sam Sung District, Khon Kaen Province, along with a summary of the results of the workshop on the creation of a local fabric database to support becoming a world handicraft city. On 22-23 May 2021, the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, Khon Kaen University, represented by the Center of Excellence in MICE and Business Events, led by the project supervisor, Asst. Prof. Dr. Donluthai Kowattanakul and Ms. Kamanopa Wangkhuenklang, organized a workshop on the creation of a local fabric database to support becoming a world handicraft city. In addition to explaining the origin and importance of local woven fabrics that reflect the identity of each locality, the training also discussed the benefits of creating a local fabric database, as well as providing knowledge on collecting data necessary for recording evidence of local woven fabrics for the participants and employees. The lecturers who shared their knowledge, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wisapat Chaiyue, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, along with Asst. Prof. Dr. Donruthai Kowattanakul and Ms. Kamonpa Wangkhuenklang, Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, Khon Kaen University, organized training with distance both Online and Onsite according to social distancing measures. Temperature measurement and hand washing with alcohol gel were performed. In the area of Huai Toei Subdistrict, there was a total of 1 village that collected data, which was Ban Huai Toei, and a total of 16 looms that collected data. It was found that all local woven fabric patterns collected by the Huai Toei Subdistrict weaving group received culture from the Isan Thai group. There are beautiful patterns inherited from ancestors and creating new patterns, which all woven fabrics use chemical dyeing methods. It is a challenge to further develop knowledge about natural dyeing. In addition, some households have brought woven fabrics to exhibit at OTOP exhibitions.
