This year, the Khon Kaen University Council would like to present an Honorary Doctor of Dentistry degree to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Her Royal Highness has given importance to and supported the development of oral health for the public to have good health, including promoting the development of dental personnel and the dental profession to progress continuously. In addition, Her Royal Highness has graciously granted the Royal Dental Unit to be upgraded to a Royal Dental Center and a Mobile Dental Center, and named it “HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Royal Dental Center”. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously bestowed the name of the building, which means a building that is a source of knowledge prosperity, and granted permission to invite the royal initials “S.T.” (S.O.-T.O.) to be decorated above the name of the building for good fortune. On this occasion, Her Royal Highness viewed the exhibition of various research works of the Faculty of Science, Khon Kaen University, which uses modern technology. Applying it in science to be consistent with the uniqueness and local wisdom of the Northeast, such as recording, researching, exploring the diversity of life in the Northeast, developing nano-products from natural products for agricultural benefits, improving the breed of Khao Dok Mali 105 rice to be salt-resistant and drought-resistant by using molecular markers to help in selection, and displaying geographic information of tourist attractions in the Khon Kaen Geopark. At 3:31 p.m., proceeded to Srinagarind Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, to lay the foundation stone for the Excellent Specialized Medical Service Center building, built to expand medical treatment and health services of the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University to be sufficient for the needs of people in the Northeast, including developing the quality of services to be on par with university hospitals in Bangkok and internationally. It will consist of 4 buildings: the Medical Service Center building, 21 floors high, with 6 floors of outpatient service areas, 622 inpatient beds, of which 117 are intensive care units, with operating rooms and endoscopy rooms; The 8-storey medical service support building, 12-storey parking building, and 4-storey relatives’ residence can accommodate 420 patients’ relatives with a construction period of 43 months. It will be able to provide medical treatment with modern equipment and technology, as well as being a place for teaching medical and public health personnel at all levels, especially training specialists in various fields, as well as being used as a place for in-depth research in medical science to create new medical knowledge and innovations.
