This morning (23/10/63), Mr. Chumporn Para, Director of the Corporate Communications Division, along with personnel of the Corporate Communications Division, as representatives of Khon Kaen University, joined the activity to commemorate the anniversary of the passing of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn, laying wreaths and paying homage to commemorate the great kindness of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn, King Rama V, “Somdet Phra Piyamaharaj”, with Dr. Somsak Jangtrakul, Governor of Khon Kaen Province, presiding over the ceremony, leading participants in the wreath-laying and paying homage in front of the Royal Monument of King Rama V at the Royal Monument of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn, in front of Khon Kaen Provincial Hall. “Piyamaharaj Day” is the anniversary of the passing of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn, King Rama V, or King Rama V of the Chakri Dynasty, who made immeasurable contributions to the country and the Thai people. Thailand can remain stable and its people live with dignity. The sovereignty for hundreds of years was due to the royal virtue and diligence of every monarch, including King Chulalongkorn. Throughout his reign, he performed various royal duties for the country until it became as prosperous as other civilized countries, such as governance, the abolition of slavery, the reform of the civil service system, public utilities, transportation, education, religion, and especially foreign affairs. From the important historical events of his two visits to Europe in 1897 and 1907, it showed his wisdom and far-reaching vision. He was the first monarch of Asia to seriously visit Europe to build friendly relations with foreign countries, which was an important part that allowed Siam at that time to successfully escape being a colony of the Western superpowers. From all of his royal duties and with his great kindness, the Thai people jointly built a majestic equestrian statue to present to His Majesty.
