Khon Kaen Provincial Police, in collaboration with Khon Kaen University, have used high-performance drones, including both normal vision and thermal imaging systems, capable of zooming from a height of over 100 meters to clearly see people and license plates, to detect curfew violators. At 9:30 p.m. at the Khon Kaen City Pillar Shrine, Pol. Maj. Gen. Phuttiphong Musikul, Commander of Khon Kaen Provincial Police, dispatched officers and drones to fly around the streets of Khon Kaen Municipality to patrol and inform the public not to leave their homes during curfew hours, in accordance with measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. He has instructed all police stations to set up checkpoints at all 39 locations throughout the province. Since April 3, 205 curfew violators have been arrested. Statistics show that the number of arrests is still quite high, so he has collaborated with Khon Kaen University to use high-performance drone technology, or unmanned aerial vehicles, which are capable of flying at a height of 300 meters, with a visibility radius of approximately 1 kilometer from the takeoff point, and can also zoom down to detect people, cars, and motorcycles, clearly seeing license plates. It also has thermal imaging and infrared systems, making it a very modern technology. When used, it will help officers see people driving cars, motorcycles on the road, or even people sitting in groups drinking alcohol outside the building. This camera can detect heat. There will be officers at the command center to monitor the events after the curfew. When the camera detects a violator, it will order the patrol police officers stationed at the nearby point to inspect. If it is found that a person violates the announcement and leaves the house without a good reason, they will be detained and prosecuted immediately. - Thai News Agency
