Assoc. Prof. Chanchai Pantongviriyakul (M.D.), a KKU president, said, “promoting health security among its people is prioritized by KKU and different strategies should be employed to ensure good health for KKU people. So far, KKU has provided exercising amenities such as pavement of running track, exercising courts, among other health promoting facilities. KKU Healthy Life is a health enhancing program that is made more challenging via a competition among the participants. The walking and running activities should help promote good health to our people. People in the past had consistent exercise through daily activities such as hunting for food. The proportion of time spent on exercise is narrowed down these days which makes people more vulnerable to sickness. The program should make KKU people healthier. I would like Human Resource Department to continue this program in every coming year”.

According to the president, three factors affecting health of the people working in the cities are food, exercise and stress. The latter is believed to provoke the excretion of free radical, a biochemical harmful for body cells and is associated with other diseases including heart disease. After being released, free radical causes inflammation of the inner of the arterial walls which cause heart problem. Some people experience heart disease despite quite moderate blood fat. Other factors such as stress should be lessened to reduce the risk of heart disease and other health problems.
