KKU’s Demonstration School Sparks Creativity with 14 Innovative Learning Activities to Shape Future Changemakers

On February 28, 2025, the Demonstration School of Khon Kaen University, Kindergarten Division, hosted an exciting event titled “The Open House Innovator: 14 Best Activities for Children 2024.” This vibrant gathering brought together over 1,000 participants, including students, parents, and faculty members, under the leadership of Ajarn Prapaporn Jantaburom, Acting Deputy Director of the Kindergarten Division. The event aimed to ignite the spark of innovation in young children, nurturing them to become “Little Innovators” with lifelong learning skills. The atmosphere was electric, filled with laughter, curiosity, and enthusiasm as children and parents explored the creative activities at the school’s auditorium.

Ajarn Prapaporn Jantaburom proudly shared, “The magic of learning begins in early childhood. Our goal is to empower children not just to absorb knowledge but to become creators of innovation. By integrating diverse disciplines such as STEM, STEAM, Art-Based Learning, and Design Thinking, we are laying the foundation for them to grow into future leaders of change.”

The event’s highlight was the 14 creative activity stations, where children had the chance to showcase their potential. These activities went beyond academic integration, addressing real-world challenges like environmental conservation and sustainable development. Some standout activities included “Building Storm-Resistant Houses,” “Clean Energy for a Sustainable Future,” “Paper Saving: Save Paper, Save Trees, Save the World,” and “Aqua Lab Hydroponics.” These hands-on experiences not only fostered creativity but also instilled a sense of environmental responsibility in the young participants.

Ajarn Thananya Pimtaklong, a teacher of kindergarten 1/4, shared her insights into the art-based learning approach used in the “Underwater World” project. She explained, “We design learning experiences based on the children’s interests. When they expressed curiosity about marine animals, we created activities that allowed them to explore through folding, cutting, molding, and crafting. We also encouraged critical thinking by asking questions like, ‘How do fish sleep with their eyes open?’ This led to fascinating discoveries, such as learning that some fish lack eyelids but can still sleep. These activities seamlessly connect art with limitless knowledge.”

Ajarn Prapaporn concluded with an inspiring message: “This event not only showcases the incredible potential of early childhood learners but also highlights the strong collaboration between families, schools, and communities in building a solid foundation for education. We firmly believe that these Little Innovators will grow into capable adults who will drive national development with creativity, problem-solving skills, and a passion for lifelong learning.”
