Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University said on behalf of the university that he was very pleased to have the honor of the delegation from the Naval War College, Naval Education Department to make this study trip to Khon Kaen University.
“Besides producing graduates, Khon Kaen University is aware of the importance of research, innovation and the ecological system that supports innovation work, bringing us academic advances, new bodies of knowledge. We have collaborated with different organizations, both governmental and private, to create innovations for the community at the national and international levels. We are presenting today the Prototype Lithium-ion Battery Factory, which also produces nano-silica from husk ash and uses this for producing the battery. The Smart City Operation Center (SCOPC) relies on the internet of things and Cloud-based system for storing and analyzing the city data, aiming towards the complete exchange of information. We will also present the bullet-proof vest innovation, produced from silk cocoons. This is the first of its kind in the world. The research project on the ballistic vest was inspired by the unrest situation in the 3 Southern provinces. On behalf of Khon Kaen University, I hope this study trip will bring benefits to the Naval War College in terms of the research and innovation, and also for the country,” said KKU President.
Rear Admiral Piset Khankhaeng, Commander of the Naval War College explained the objective of the study trip, which has been planned because of the advances in research and innovation of Khon Kaen University.
“A tremendous amount of money is required each time the country puts an innovation into effect. This is because the technology has to be imported from abroad. Therefore, if we want to step forward and become a world-class leading nation, we have to cater the technology by ourselves. This is why we want our students to see the truth, or to see what needs to be done to create an innovation. I believe that the study trip this time will benefit the students. They will learn and see the processes themselves,” the Commander of the Naval War College said.
After the special talk by Prof. Dr. Thidarat Boonmars, Vice President for Innovation and Enterprise on the ecological system for innovation development at Khon Kaen University, the delegates went to the Prototype Battery Factory, the Smart City Innovation, the SCOPC Center and the Production of ballistic vest from silk cocoons at the Northeast Science Park, Khon Kaen University.
