Faculty of Dentistry, KKU, shares love: arranges almshouse to assist people experiencing financial difficulties during the COVID-19 outbreak

On April 29, 2020, Asst. Prof. Dr. Waranuch Pitiphat, Dean of Faculty of Dentistry, together with Mr. Kemchart Somjaiwong, Chairman of the Khon Kaen Chamber of Commerce at the City Hall, private sectors, and economic organizations of Khon Kaen led the project “Dentistry and Friends, KKU, Share Love During COVID-19” under the project of Khon Kaen people not abandoning each other “Pun Gun Im”. This project allowed them to distribute 110 lunchboxes for people affected financially by the COVID-19 outbreak and it started from 11.00-14.00 hrs. at Khon Kaen Train Station. 

During the event, the distributors and receivers had their temperatures taken, wore surgical masks, and kept a social distance of 1.5 meters. Once they received their lunch boxes, they immediately took them home.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Waranuch Pitiphat, Dean of Faculty of Dentistry, said the “Dentistry and Friends, KKU, Share Love During COVID-19” project began on April 22, 2020, at the tree planting zone, Faculty of Dentistry, KKU. This project aims to assist people facing financial trouble by collecting donations from Faculty of Dentistry staff and other people to buy food and arranged 110 lunch boxes from Cafe de Morkaew, which has also been impacted, then distributed them to students, staff and other people. Moreover, the faculty has waived the rental fees in April for this cafe.
