On February 6, February at 18.00-20.00 hrs. Khon Kaen University collaborates with U.S. Embassy, Bangkok, Thailand held “Daniel Ho and Kealiʻi Ceballos” concert. On the occasion of celebrating 200 years relationship between the United states of America and the Kingdom of Thailand. This event honored by Dr. Somsak Changtrakul, Khon Kaen Governor delivered a welcome speech, Dr. Kittisan Sriruksa, Assistant to the President for Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, KKU delivered a thank you speech and Mr. Neal Murata Cultural Attaché, U.S Embassy, Bangkok, Thailand delivered an opening speech. Also,there are over 100 audience attended The Auditorium Hall Khon Kaen University Science Park.
Dr. Somsak Changtrakul, Khon Kaen Governor said Khon Kaen has been strengthened a strong relationship with the United states of America in various aspects such as education exchange, labor force work, residence settlement, and special guest visit. For example, Khon Kaen province held Khon Kaen International Marathon 2020 , and arranged staff training, also conducted academic research and cultural cooperation.
“ On behalf of Khon Kaen, I am very honored to welcome you all for “Daniel Ho and Keali’i Ceballos” concert which is a famous Hawaii music band and Hula dance. This event held as celebrating 200 years relationship between the Kingdom of Thailand and the United States of America. Khon Kaen is the medical ,econimic, and academic center in Northeasten part. Also it famous in Isan culture as the slogan “ Dok koon City” which originates from Dok koon blossom in summer, and have several local artists ( Morlum and Morkan). Therefore, today is a special moment that we have an opportunity to exchange culture. And develop further collaboration between two countries” Dr. Somsak Said.
Dr. Kittisan Sriruksa, Assistant to the President for Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, Khon Kaen University said as a leading University of Thailand, Khon Kaen University has a supporting policy on Spiritual in order to support international collaboration, especially the United States of America, such as academic and research exchange, including cultural activities (art training and concert.)
On June 24 last year. Khon Kaen University collaborated with U.S Embassy , Bangkok, Thailand held “The United States Air Force Band of the Pacific-Asia”. There were many people attending the concert and had a special show with Ponglang band from the students of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, KKU. And today is a great opportunity to watch the show “Daniel Ho and Kealii Ceballos” the Hawaii music from the USA. On behalf of Khon Kaen University, I would like to thank you U.S. Embassy , Bangkok, Thailand , International Affairs Division, and Khon Kaen University Science Parks for your support to arrange this concert” Dr. Kittisan said.
Keali’i Ceballo, a musician from Hawaii, the USA revealed that we are very honored to have an opportunity to perform in Thailand and Thailand is a very beautiful country. For describe the Hawaii story by gesture and words, it will shared through music for today’s concert.
“ In the past, we did not have written language, so Hula dance is an important way to preserve our history and fairytale. This show will describe the sacrifice of our Hawaii king. “ Kalakaua” who traveled around the world since 1881. His majesty built relationships with foreign countries, including Thailand to express the word that Hawaii is a beautiful and peaceful place. Therefore, this continuously begins the strong relationships between Hawaii, the USA and Thailand.” The Hawaii musician, USA said.
Moreover, the most impressive show was “Daniel Ho and Keali’i Ceballos” featuring the students of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, KKU which combine all different performances together, including Hawaii music, Isan music, Hula dance and Isan dance.
