Faculty of Education went to Southwest University in Congching, Chaina to discuss the program in Chinese Teaching on November 21-24, 2019
November 21-24, 2019 – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sumalee Chaijaroen, Dean of Faculty of Education with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jarunee Chamat, Associate Dean for Education and Quality Development and Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Srisawat, Associate Dean for Research and Creative Education Innovations went to Southwest University for the 14th meeting of the two universities. The team was led by Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., Acting President of Khon Kaen University. The delegation also include administrators from Confucius Institutute.
The delegation discussed the improvement of the Chinese Teaching as a Foreign Language curriculum with Faculty of Arts at Southwest University, which has run the curriculum for over 12 years. The discussion accented the change of the program from 5 to 4 years and the ways to improve the curriculum for more academic strength and effectiveness. The other topic discussed was the Dual-Degree program with International College, Southwest University. This was well accepted at the meeting and there is a tendency to receive students to continue their studies in China with scholarships provided.
The delegation then visited the 32 4th year students who were studying at Southwest University. Their Chinese language development was excellent. They have also acquired the skills and characteristics of a good teacher and are the pride of Faculty of Education at KKU to have good Chinese teachers in the future.
