KKU’s Royal Dental Unit provides dental services to people on His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great Memorial Day
On October 11, 2019, the Royal Dental Unit under the Patronage of His Majesty the King, Faculty of Dentistry, Khon Kaen University, provided dental services to people in order to make merit and reminisce about the passing away of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great on His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great Memorial Day. In addition, the dental services were provided on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Royal Dental Unit establishment at Non Sila Wittayakom School, Non Sila District, Khon Kaen Province.
On this occasion, Dr. Chaivut Prunkngarmpun (D.T.), Dentistry Lecturer and the President of the Royal Dentist Unit, gave an opening speech and read the blessing speech to honor the previous His Majesty the King. Then, Mr. Chanwut Khunnawut, Senior Deputy District Chief of Non Sila District, laid the wreath in front of the picture of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, and gave a welcome speech. Many dentistry lecturers, KKU Faculty of Dentistry Staff and teachers from Non Sila Wittayakom attended the event.
Dr. Chaivut Prunkngarmpun said that the previous flood situation in the area of Non Sila District and Ban Phai in Khon Kaen Province had damaged life and property and also start severe difficulties in people’s lives. Even the flood had gone, there were still affected people. The Royal Dental Unit members had collaboratively considered to come to the previous flood affected area to relieve the pain of people in terms of expenses reducing. They did not have to see the dentist far away by themselves, just to take care of their oral hygiene. Apart from providing dental services in the remote areas according to the Royal Dentist Unit’s objectives, fundraising was made to support the education of needy students, in terms of scholarship granting. The Faculty of Dentistry, Khon Kaen University, had asked for the Royal approval to set up the Royal Dental Unit under the Patronage of His Majesty the King Rama 9. The KKU Royal Dental Unit had been operating dental services since 1995, and the services met the His Majesty The King Rama 9’s initiative thoughts to help needy people in the remote areas. The goals of the Royal Dental Unit were to promote good oral health and hygiene, to raise the dental health awareness in communities for oral health caring, and to disseminate knowledge on dental public health for better dental health behavior. Dental service projects were created to help people and to make merits, sending to the passed away His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great. His Majesty The King Rama 9 had approved the Royal Dental Unit with generosity. “The relieving of dental diseases” was the objective of the KKU Royal Dental Unit. The dental services had been operating for 50 years.
Mr. Chanwut Khunnawut stated that the KKU Royal Dental services, offered to people in Non Sila District, were very useful. He was glad to join in the event. People’s good health was important for the district. Many sectors had to integrate works for people’s better health. The visit from the KKU Royal Dental Unit created the better quality of people’s lives, according to His Majesty The King Rama 9’s intentions. Non Sila District was thankful to have the KKU dentists and staff to devote time and skills to help people.
According to the event, there were 50 personnel in total, comprising dentistry lecturers, dentists, students from KKU Faculty of Dentistry. They provided various dental services, such as dental and oral health check-ups, cavity filling, tooth removing, tooth scaling or cleaning, fluoride coating and disseminating knowledge on dental health to students, teachers and people. The services were offered from 8.30-12.00 hrs. Many people came for dental services at the meeting hall of Non Sila Wittayakom School. Besides, Dr. Chaivut Prunkngarmpun acted as a representative to give funded scholarships to the Director of Non Sila Wittayakom School.
