Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, KKU controls strayed cats and dogs population

    July 11-12, 2019, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, KKU carried out a project to control strayed cats and dogs population at Nakorn Chaiburin Asylum for strayed cats and dogs in Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima 

    Under the royal expectation of Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana, the 500 dogs under the care of ‘Pa Duan’ in Non Muang Community, Sila Sub-District, Muang District, Khon Kaen have been moved to Nakorn Chaiburin Asylum for strayed cats and dogs in Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima in order to control the population and provide health care for those cats and dogs. On July 11-12, 2019, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Khon Kaen University led by Asst. Prof. Pongtorn Suwantada, Associate Dean for the Animal Hospital, and 21 veterinarians and students therefore join Office of Academic Service of KKU trave1led to Nakorn Chaiburin Strayed Dogs and Cats Center to carry out the cat and dog population control project. The activities included sterilizing the dogs and cats, giving rabies vaccination. This event also opened up a chance to integrate instruction of the vet students outside classrooms. Mr. Wichian Jantaranochai, Nakhon Ratchasima Governor and administrators and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kriengkrai Kitjaroen, Director of Office of Academic Service of Khon Kaen University visited the project site. 700 dogs and cats received the treatment (including sterilizing 15 female dogs and 7 male dogs) and many of them were found having skin disease and ticks and fleas. The team found it necessary to plan for the next visit soon.
