Faculty of Dentistry, KKU held an international dentistry conference with researchers all over the world attending and presenting dentistry research
July 8, 2019 at Pulman Raja Orchid Hotel, Khon Kaen – Faculty of Dentistry, Khon Kaen University hosted the 17th international conference in dentistry with Dental Faculty Consortium of Thailand (D.F.C.T.). The conference this year was under the topic, “Emerging Trends in Dentistry”. Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul M.D., President of Khon Kaen University presided over the opening ceremony. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Waranut Pitipat, Dean of Faculty of Dentistry made a reporting speech. Over 500 participants from over 30 universities in 13 countries presented their research work.
Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul M.D., President of Khon Kaen University said that this 17th international conference in dentistry and international research presentation answers the ‘People Policy’ under the 2nd Strategy on Research transformation – research is conducted to meet the needs of users or according to the world society, can be really used, or invent new products or innovation; and the ‘Ecological Policy’ under the 9th Strategy on Internationalization – building collaborative networks with overseas institutions to develop education, research, and academic services. It was expected that this conference would be a venue for sharing knowledge and experience, not only for Thailand but for researchers all over the world.
This conference has been organized for the 17th time and this year Faculty of Dentistry of Khon Kaen University hosted the conference with support from Dental Faculty Consortium of Thailand (D.F.C.T.), and organization that has arisen from a cluster of administrators of dentistry faculties in Thailand. It is the center for coordination in academic operation, educational administration and activities related to dentistry and dentistry profession. The professional organizations collaborating with D.F.C.T include Dentistry Council, Thailand Royal-Patronage Dentistry Association, National Royal Dentistry College, Ministry of Public Health and other ministries with dentists affiliated. Besides, there is collaboration with Office of Health Promotion Funding, especially the Happy-Building Dentistry School. Presently, the members of Dental Faculty Consortium of Thailand comprises 11 institutes: Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University, Chiangmai University, Khon Kaen University, Prince of Songkhla University, Thammasat University, Srinakarintarawirot University, Naresuan University, Suranaree University of Technology, Mae Fa Luang University and Payao University.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Waranut Pitipat, Dean of Faculty of Dentistry revealed that Dental Faculty Consortium of Thailand, with 11 dentistry faculties, has supported the conference and presentation of research in dentistry in order to promote collaboration and exchange of knowledge and research outcomes as well as innovations of all institutions. Formerly, the conference was held at a national level. This year, it is an international conference.
“On the occasion of the 4th decade of Faculty of Dentistry of Khon Kaen University, the topic, ‘Emerging Trends in Dentistry’ is the theme this year and Khon Kaen is the conference venue. The objectives are to transfer knowledge to dentists, students, and researchers so that they are able to apply modern technologies in their work. In addition, the conference will lead to building of an academic network among faculties of dentistry in the country and overseas. The conference opening ceremony featured performance by Sinsai Band, a Thai musical band from Khon Kaen University, and presentation of the symbolic flag of the member institution followed by a special talk and presentation of research work of PhD students. The conference is scheduled until July 10, 2019.
