Assoc. Prof. Dr. Niyom Wongpongkham, Acting Vice President for Art, Culture and Community Relation said that KKU’s art and cultural work has been driven forward under the concept: “not obsessed with the old nor the new”, which is the Khon Kaen University Council’s notion. The work involves conservation of Isanism and creativeness, which responds to Khon Kaen University’s strategy in driving forward art and cultural work as well as enhancing creativeness. Asst. Prof. Wilawan Sawetseranee, Director of Office of Art and Cultural Promotion of Chiangmai University explained that the art and cultural enhancement at Chiangmai University is similar to Khon Kaen University. There are activities that support learning of students from different faculties, especially Faculties of Medicine and Sciences, to learn together. CMU emphasizes activities related to ‘Lanna’ culture. Academic services are provided with common benefits. CMU has also built learning resources, especially ‘Lanna’ Museum, which is a live learning resource that is open for all to visit and learn. This is part of Chiangmai University’s strategies.

Discussion was carried out on a means to manage and nurture art and culture that will lead to sustainable cooperation with the community on art and culture and concrete administration and management work for art and culture. Collaboration with other academic institutions will be built, especially with those having similar mission for art and culture. For Khon Kaen University, the work on art and culture will be creatively developed and integrated with the learning of all age ranges in the zone provided for this purpose.
