“Lights, Camera, Action!” Win ฿30,000 in Khon Kaen’s Groundbreaking Chinese-Language Video Contest – Bridging Thailand’s Heartland with China’s Digital Generation

In an exciting initiative to showcase the vibrant spirit of Thailand’s Northeast, Khon Kaen University (KKU) has launched an innovative video competition that’s set to put this dynamic city on China’s cultural radar. The contest, themed “Where is Khon Kaen? 孔敬在哪儿?”, invites creative minds to capture the essence of this flourishing Thai metropolis through the lens of modern digital storytelling.

On December 12, 2024, the launch event buzzed with enthusiasm as Dr. Sakchai Jarernsiripornkul, Dean of the College of Graduate Study in Management, alongside Mr. Channarong Buristrakul, President of the Khon Kaen Chamber of Commerce, and Dr. Watcharapon Sirisuwilai, Director of the Chinese Information Center, unveiled this groundbreaking project. The ceremony drew eager participants from prestigious local institutions including Khon Kaen Wittayayon School, Kaennakhon Witthayalai School, and Kanlayanawat School.
“Khon Kaen isn’t just another city – it’s a gateway to opportunities,” declares Mr. Channarong Buristrakul. “From our strategic position as a logistics powerhouse to our mesmerizing tourist attractions and rich cultural tapestry, we’re ready to welcome Chinese investors and visitors with open arms.”
The contest raises the stakes with an impressive prize pool of over 30,000 baht, challenging participants to showcase Khon Kaen’s triple crown of attractions: its stunning tourist destinations, mouthwatering cuisine, and unique cultural identity.

Dr. Sakchai Jarernsiripornkul emphasizes that this initiative goes beyond mere competition – it’s about building bridges between nations and nurturing future leaders in cross-cultural communication.

Dr. Watcharapon Sirisuwilai adds an exciting twist: participants can choose their preferred digital battlefield – be it Facebook, Xiaohongshu, or TikTok – to showcase their 90-second masterpieces. The competition welcomes entries in two categories: general public and students, ensuring everyone has a chance to tell their Khon Kaen story.
