KKU HR Launches Ambitious Initiative: “Empowering KKU New Faculty Members 2024: Shaping the Future Together”

On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, KKU’s Human Resources Division kicked off an impactful program, “Empowering KKU New Faculty Members 2024: Shaping the Future Together.” This event marks the beginning of a transformative journey for KKU’s newest faculty members, designed to equip them with the tools and insights needed to excel in their roles. Asst. Prof. Dr. Pattarawit Polpinit, Vice President for Human Resources at KKU, presided over the ceremony held at Sirikunakorn Room 3, Sirikunakorn Building, Office of the President.

In his opening remarks, Asst. Prof. Dr. Pattarawit emphasized the vital role that faculty members play in KKU’s mission to produce graduates who can serve the nation effectively. “Our new faculty members are not just educators; they are the torchbearers of our university’s mission and ideals. They are essential in shaping the future, not just for KKU but for the nation, especially as we strive to make a significant impact in the northeastern region,” he stated.

The “First Steps as New Faculty Members in Higher Education for Fiscal Year 2024” program is meticulously crafted to immerse new faculty members in KKU’s core philosophy, values, and strategic direction. The program is also geared towards enhancing their pedagogical skills, particularly in course design, student assessment, and the integration of technology into teaching. Beyond the classroom, the initiative aims to foster a sense of community and teamwork among new faculty across different disciplines, strengthening KKU’s academic fabric.

The program, which has attracted over 50 new faculty members, unfolds in two dynamic phases. The first phase, held from August 13–15, 2024, features in-depth discussions on KKU’s philosophy, values, and expectations for new faculty, led by university executives. Participants will also engage in hands-on workshops focused on developing personal growth plans and mapping out their career progression. Adding to the richness of the experience, senior faculty and alumni will share their wisdom and insights, while networking sessions and team-building activities will help solidify bonds among the new cohort.

The second phase, scheduled for August 30 to September 1, 2024, promises to be equally engaging. Set off-campus, this segment of the program will delve into innovative approaches to curriculum design and introduce a new learning paradigm. Participants will also explore effective techniques for assessing student learning and providing meaningful feedback, all within a supportive environment that includes recreational activities and further team-building exercises.

With this comprehensive program, KKU is not just welcoming new faculty members but is also empowering them to be leaders in education, capable of driving forward the university’s mission and contributing to the broader goals of the nation.
