Office of Academic Service and Tha Kraserm TAO continuously provide academic service to the community for equality of education

May 14, 2024 – Office of Academic Service, Khon Kaen University, led by Assoc. Prof. Chuchat Kamollert, Ph.D., DVM., Director of the Office, sent their administrative team and officers to meet with Tha Kraserm Sub-District Administrative Organization, Nam Phong District, Khon Kaen Province. The meeting was aimed at building collaboration in continuous academic service for the community and building collaboration in submitting a conceptual proposal for the 2024 scholarship for community-based learning promotion, which is under the Educational Equality Fund.


Assoc. Prof. Chuchat Kamollert, Ph.D., DVM., Director of the Office of Academic Service thanked Tha Kraserm Sub-District Administrative Organization, Nam Phong District, for the continual collaboration in various projects that assist in development of people’s quality of life. The Director then explained about the approach in creating collaboration in collecting basic data and needs of the community by means of a conceptual proposal for the 2024 scholarship for community-based learning promotion, which is under the Educational Equality Fund. The objectives of the fund were clarified, which are to upgrade the quality of life and education of the underprivileged in the community to be equitable to others.


Mr. Prasit Klangklang, President of Tha Kraserm Sub-District Administrative Organization welcomed the delegation from Khon Kaen and said that he was pleased with the visit. Tha Kraserm Sub-District Administrative Organization has, for a long time, worked with the Office of Academic Service of Khon Kaen University to develop the community and the quality of life of the people, through various events and activities that bring benefits to the people. The meeting this time was a good chance for the collaboration that Tha Kraserm Sub-District Administrative Organization is happy to join in all activities.
The need analysis of the community revealed that Tha Kraserm Sub-District needs to develop the quality of fundamental education to prepare the children to the basic education, and to upgrade the learning and occupation of the underprivileged in the community.


Assoc. Prof. Supasit Khonyai, Deputy Director of the Office of Academic Service explained about the collaborative approach in submitting a conceptual proposal for the 2024 scholarship for community-based learning promotion, which is under the Educational Equality Fund. Collaboration will also involve promotion, support and assist those in shortage of money or the underprivileged to receive education and developed with the knowledge and competency for occupation according to their aptitude and potential, under the concept, “Community-based”. This means cooperation of the governmental sector, the civil society sector and the academic sector, by ‘Active Learning’. The Office of Academic Service thanked for the information compiled by Tha Kraserm Sub-District Administrative Organization. The next step is to submit the proposal.
Next, Assoc. Prof. Chuchat Kamollert, Ph.D., DVM., Director of the Office of Academic Service asked the meeting members to discuss the academic service projects for the community, which will be based on the community needs, i.e., development of education quality of preschool children.


Mr. Chawalit Moontha, Permanent Secretary of Tha Kraserm Sub-District Administrative Organization said that from the TAO meeting, the needs us preparation of preschool children at the Center for Preschool Children Development of Tha Kraserm Sub-District Administrative Organization before the children move on to the primary school so that they possess the required quality and skills. This year, the TAO has been allocated an amount of budget for development of preschool children through the Integrated Child-Centered Active Learning Project (ICAP). Therefore, Khon Kaen University can provide assistance and support in this respect, by bringing the prototype from the Demonstration School, Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University, to adapt and use at the TAO’s Center for Preschool Children Development. There are 62 children at this center. The learning process used in learning and doing so that the children can acquire the important experience, creativity, development in accordance with their age, brain skill (EF), skill of the 21st Century, security and confidence, belief in their own potential and can develop themselves towards the higher educational level. The surrounding of the center will be adjusted to be appropriate as an Active Learning Space. All of these necessitate integration with the Office of Academic Service, Khon Kaen University.

 
The meeting led to the approach for the joint and continuous collaboration that will be integrated so that all children will receive the chance to develop their potential, with low cost but high return. The end results will be equality and impartiality. It is the development of children according to each one’s potential, which will be their human resource capital in the future that will lead to social and national values.
