KKU welcomes TSRI delegation on the visit to observe the works of “SRI” fund

January 5, 2024 – The Innovation and Enterprise Section by Miss Waraporn Phewphanngam, Acting Deputy Director of the Technology and Innovation Center, who was assigned by the Vice President for Innovation and Enterprise of Khon Kaen University, together with lecturers and staff, welcomed the delegation from Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI) led by Assoc. Prof. Patamawadee Pochanukul, Ph.D., Director of TSRI; Assoc. Prof. Apisak Teerawisit, Ph.D., Deputy Director of TSRI; and representatives from the National Budget Bureau led by Mr. Pattarapong Phumphruek, Director of the Social Budgeting Division 2/1, on the occasion of their visit to observe the works under the Thailand Science Research and Innovation in Khon Kaen. The visit was at the BSF protein insect farm to see the production and benefits of Black Soldier Fly – BSF. Prof. Yupa Hanboonsong, Ph.D., the project head; Dr. Chutinan Chusai, Head of the Industrial Insect Department and Dr. Tanit Chungtaworn, Deputy Director of the Office of the Biodiversity-based Economy Development Office (Public Organization) joined in presenting the work of the Industrial Insect Department of the Faculty of Agriculture, Khon Kaen University to the delegation. The insect production of the Department is the prototype of the full-cycle manufacturing, research, and use of BSF, where protein insects of high quality and quantity are produced all year long. The Department is the center for transferring the knowledge and technology to farmers and interested people, both governmental and private, in order to appropriately promote and develop the benefits of BSF in all dimensions, namely, reduction of cost of animal feeds, increase of incomes, building occupation, safe food production, and management of organic wastes. In addition, Ekachai Distribution System Co. Ltd., (Lotus), by Khun Prem Sapboonlertma, Manager of Northeast Sustainable Organization Department, has supported by providing BSF feeds. The visit was also aimed at discussing advanced research and development of science, research and innovation system that sustainably respond to the socio-economic directions of the country.
