Monday November 20, 2023 – Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University welcomed the executives from the Department of Health Service Support, the public health network and Khon Kaen private sector, to the meeting for discussing approaches or a model for full-cycle medical industrial development. The meeting was held at Sarasin Room, Sirikunakorn Building, Khon Kaen University.
Doctor Sura Wisetsak, M.D., Director General of the Department of Health Service Support said that the meeting today aimed at finding information for developing the database for Medical & Wellness Economy and Wellness Tourism of Thailand, and at discussing the building of the ecological system that supports full-cycle medical industrial development, specifically including the development of personnel that will work in the health service business industry. The other aim is to promote and extend advanced medical service industry innovations of tomorrow world that will in turn build a high-value business. Khon Kaen University, in this regard, is the key foundation of the full cycle medical industry.
Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University stated that Khon Kaen University has appointed a working team for the Wellness Economy Corridor and for the health promotion and medical innovation zone at Khon Kaen University and the extended area of Khon Kaen Province, where the Wellness and Medical Service Center will be established. The center will function as the executer of the strategy for developing the health promotion and medical innovation zone at Khon Kaen suburban area and the Upper Isan Wellness Economy Corridor. It is expected that these will help provoking economy and value addition in investments in the zone.
At the same time, the Wellness Center will be the center for medical information, health promotion, investment and health-based tourism. It will promote co-investment in technological, innovation and research infrastructures. The personnel will act as consultants and will share knowledge, ideas, innovations, research outcomes and new technologies to the world market.
“Khon Kaen University is prepared to proceed in driving forward the Wellness Center and preparation of quality medical personnel who will work for the full cycle medical service. Additionally, the University has conducted a study of service models abroad for development of the model of the Wellness Center so that it will meet more requirements of clients. It is a good opportunity today that the Department of Health Service Support sees the importance and potentiality of Khon Kaen University, and discusses with us the direction of public health policy of the country.”
Besides the discussion of the executives of the Department of Health Service Support and Khon Kaen University, the public health network and Khon Kaen private sector; on Tuesday November 21, 2023, Khon Kaen University also showed the delegation from the Department of Health Service Support the University’s implementation in the full-cycle medical industry, the medical innovation work, the Science Park, the Wellness Center, and the Pharmacology Production Office of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, Khon Kaen University.
