July 15-16, 2023 – Asst. Prof. Kiat Saeng-arun, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Sciences, Khon Kaen University led a team of administrators and lecturers including Asst. Prof. Suntaree Boochitchon, Ph.D., Vice Dean; Ajarn Jakkawan Kleepbua, Head of the Department of Law; Asst. Prof. Paramaporn Weerapan, Ph.D., Chairperson of the Master’s Degree Program in Law; Asst. Prof. Atcharaporn Seehawatana, Ph.D.; Dr. Perm Luangkaew; Dr. Bandit Khwayotha: Dr. Peechaya Jongudomkarn; and the 5th and 6th Classes of students of the Master’s Degree Program in Law, on an official visit to the Faculty of Law and Political Science of the National University of Laos. Assoc. Prof. Viengvilay THIENGCHANHXAY, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science of the National University of Laos welcomed the delegates from Khon Kaen University. The two parties discussed academic collaboration and exchanges of students, staff, lecturers and researchers; research project collaboration, co-organization of conferences; and exchanges of research information, for ultimate benefits in instruction and academic potentialities of the two institutions.
On this occasion, there was a forum on the topic of “Modernizing Justice System: Lao-Thai Perspective”, which was aimed at exchanging knowledge and development of justice process of Lao PDR and Thailand, especially in the laws related to the environment, constitution, business, trading and investment in ASEAN countries.
This official visit was carried out following the Department of Law’s awareness of the necessity for development of students’ potentialities and instruction at the master’s degree program level in order to catch up with the changes and to understand the concept of the law system of ASEAN countries so that the knowledge and experience obtained will be applied in development of advanced knowledge. Moreover, the students will be able to practice in the real situation and learn about the various social characteristics and organizations. As a result, knowledge and understanding of the work and administration of the governmental, private, and social sectors will be enhanced, as well as the skill related to jobs of the students before they enter the employment market. Another expectation is to build an academic and research collaborative network in the future. Exchanges of staff and students, which will take place, will also lead to development of manpower of the country in the long run. Consequently, ASEAN countries connection will be viable while information and news of the Faculty disseminated to organizations and institutions abroad.
