On June 4, 2023, a delegation from Khon Kaen University (KKU) led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Assistant to the President for International Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Apichat Jiravuttipong, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Assoc. Prof. Kamonwan Jenwitheesuk, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Faculty of Medicine; Asst. Prof. Dr. Somjit Muangpin, Associate Dean for Academic and Academic Services, Faculty of Nursing; Asst. Prof. Dr. Samoraphop Banharak, Associate Dean for Research Innovation and International Affairs, Faculty of Nursing; personnel from the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Nursing, and the International Affairs Division, KKU, visited Youjiang Medical University for Nationalities (YMUN), People’s Republic of China. On this occasion, the KKU delegates received an excellent opportunity to visit the construction site of YMUN, the Baidong Campus in Baise City, which will be complete by this year, and Baidong Hospital: a large hospital that can accommodate up to 1200 inpatients.
On June 5, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., KKU delegates were warmly welcomed by YMUN administrators led by the Vice President, Prof. Huang Longjian, giving a welcome speech and introduced administrators of YMUN. “I am pleased to welcome the delegates from Khon Kaen University to Youjiang Medical University for Nationalities, a medical science institution with 15,000 full-time students. The meeting allows us to bond and collaborate to develop academic competence deeply,” said Prof. Huang Longjian.
Meanwhile, Asst. Prof. Dr. Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and was impressed to see the beautiful environment around campus. She said that this formal visit could enhance the bond between the two institutions and wished to collaborate more with YMUN. She thanked the visions of YMUN administrators regarding the development of education, research, and medical service for all people in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Baise City, and their sights on human resource development, providing optimal services.
At 10:30 a.m., Professor Huang Longjian showed the delegation from KKU of the Hall of School History, Science Lab Center, and affiliated hospital of YMUN.
At 3:00 p.m., Administrators and professors of the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Nursing, KKU, interviewed the applicants who applied for a Doctoral degree. There are eight applicants joined this session.
On June 6, 2023, administrators of the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Nursing, KKU, discussed with the administrators from the School of Clinical Medicine, School of Basic Medicine, and School of Nursing, YMUN, concerning the possibility of student and personal exchange, joint research, and the admission of YMUN teaching personnel to study at KKU.
KKU and YMUN have collaborated since 2009. Later in 2021, both universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding and began sending the students from YMUN to continue their graduate-level studies at the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Nursing, KKU. In addition, both universities have planned to expand the collaboration to the Faculty of Public Health, KKU, to support both universities on joint academic and educational activities and human resource development.
