HUSO, KKU, holds an English Summer Course in UK program to strengthen English language skills and cultural knowledge of students

May 3-13, 2023 – Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University carried out an English Summer Course in UK, the program that aimed to increase students’ English language usage skills and enable them to learn the English cultures from the native speakers. The program responsible lecturers were Asst. Prof. Prapas Kaewketpong, Ph.D., Vice Dean for Student Development and Alumni Relation and Ajarn Nahathai Manadee, Ph.D., Assistant to the Dean for Student Development and Alumni Relation. The two lecturers led a group of students to attend the English training program at the Language Centre, Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures, University of Leeds.

The HUSO students attended classes with students from other countries such as Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Poland. There was also the Fun Fair activity that allowed the students to practice using all of the 4 English language skills, namely, listening, speaking, reading and writing. The objective was to have them practice communicating with other participants based on the rules and regulations of the games at the activity booth. The activity went on with a lot of fun.

In addition to learning the language in classroom, the students also learned English cultures outside classes. They had the great opportunity to go and observe the important event in the English history, i.e., the coronation of King Charles III, the 40th King of England, which took place at Buckingham Palace, London, on May 6, 2023. Moreover, the students were taken to visit Oxfords, Leeds, York, Chelsea, and major landmarks in London including the Big Ben, London Eyes, British Museum, Buckingham Palace, as well as visiting the Royal Mews, the museum of the royal vehicles used by the Royal Family of England.
