Faculty of Education, KKU joins 19 Teacher Training Institutions to hold the 4th Workshop of Teacher Induction

February 13-16, 2023 – Faculty of Education of Khon Kaen University as the network node of the upper Isan teacher training institutions and the 19 network members held the 4th Workshop of Teacher Induction: Smart Teaching and Learning for the Next Generation Classroom: Technology that Enhances Active Learning” at Avani Khon Kaen Hotel and Convention Center, Khon Kaen. The training was divided into two similar workshops, with the first group of 315 participants attending the first workshop on February 13-15; and the second group of also 315 participants attending the workshop on February 15-16. Assoc. Prof. Sumalee Chaijaroen, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty presided over the opening ceremony.

The teacher training was for the teachers under the “Teacher Project for Local Development”. These teachers had been recruited as teaching assistants in 2021 and attended this workshop to train in the use of teaching media production tools that would be used to supplement classroom activities and strengthen learners’ potential. The tools are digital technology-based, and thus new bodies of knowledge have been acquired that are useful for school students. At the same time, the capacity of the teachers is strenghtened so that they are able to catch up with the ever-changing technologies of the present and future world.

The activities in the workshop included special talks on “Building Inspiration, Creativity, and Happiness towards Success” by Ajarn Bunyarit Sombatlai (on the first day) and Ajarn Introng Nittayarote (on the second day); and on “Smart Teaching and Learning for The Next Generation Classroom: Coding & AI Classroom” by Khun Thepparit Seenamngoen, General Manager of CODE COMBAT (SEA) CO., LTD. The workshop that followed was creation of work pieces, presentation of work outcomes, and presentation of prizes: “Outstanding Awards” for winners from each sub-workshop group. In addition to the prizes, what is greatly valuable and can instill students with the 21st Century skills and higher academic outcomes is the teacher’s continuing use of techniques, methods and approaches in instruction that were obtained from the workshop in their classrooms.
