KKU invites academics to discuss the trend of university learning management for 2023

As the world has changed especially during the Covid pandemic, the educational industry has also undergone adjustment in order to survive under the situation. The changes have been both in the teaching and learning processes, the operations of personnel in academic institutions until there inevitably emerged the ‘New Normal’ age. Thus, the very important thing is to develop the education system, course contents and lessons that still support the development of potentialities of people of all ages in all situations and contexts of teaching and learning that have changed. This might be the only way to retain higher education institutions so that they are not cast away from the circle of the changes.

Khon Kaen University therefore held a seminar on the trend of changes in the learning and teaching management in universities in 2023, on January 31, 2023, by means of electronics meeting. Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University chaired the opening session and gave a special talk on “Reform of Thailand through Higher Education for Sustainable Future”.

Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University mentioned in his talk that the present is the age of digital industry revolution. One side of this is a threat to universities. But, at the same time, it is the opportunity to apply these technologies as the tool for educational reform, by changing students and learning process so that they have analytical and synthetic abilities. These qualities will enable the graduates to act as leaders in social development in different aspects, including invention of technologies and new products with high values, besides applying knowledge in multiple dimensions for sustainable deployment of the nation.

The seminar on the trend of university learning management for 2023 was on the revision of 5 issues, namely, reforming Thailand by higher education for sustainable future, the new skill framework required by workplaces and society, the trend and form of learning management in universities, Education Technology Trends in 2023, and the type of professors wanted by students. The seminar was honored to have the distinguished speakers and the Dean of the Graduate School of Chulalongkorn University and lecturers of Khon Kaen University to join in the discussion that provided knowledge in the means of the educational change of Thailand in 2023. The results will lead to preparation in terms of the offered programs, readiness of lecturers, readiness of the forms of instruction and the readiness of teaching technologies and innovations. There were also undergraduate and graduate students joining in sharing the ideas about university instruction for building good learning atmosphere and adjusting the attitudes towards the development of teaching and learning.

Assoc. Prof. Yuthana Chappanrat, Ph.D., Dean of the Graduate School of Chulalongkorn University gave a talk on: “Framework of New Skills Required by Workplaces and Society”; followed by a talk on “The Trend and Form of Leaning Management in Universities” by Dr. Athipong Patanasetthapong, M.D., from the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University and Assoc. Prof. Natthapong Areemit, Ph.D., from the Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University; and a talk on “Education Technology Trends in 2023” by Asst. Prof. Denpong Sudphakdee, Ph.D., Vice President for Digital of Khon Kaen University; and a forum on “The Type of Lecturers Wanted by Students” by Dr. Kitt Thiantanopajai, Director of the Institute of Digital Technology of Khon Kaen University, which was joined onsite by Miss Warunya Unjanthee, an undergraduate student; Dr. Tanakorn Khonpian, a graduate student and Mr. Thotsapol Supametheekulawat, a Ph.D. student. The moderator of the forum was Dr. Cholada Parino, a lecturer from the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, Khon Kaen University.
