KKU opens insect farm, a prototype for research on insect industry

On May 8, 2019, KKU’s Innovation and Enterprise Department officially launches its insect farm, which is a prototype for the development of research on insect industry.

On May 8, 2019, KKU’s Innovation and Enterprise Department officially launches its insect farm, which is a prototype for the development of research on insect industry. The insect farm opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Chanchai Pantongviriyakul, a KKU president.

Professor Yupha Hanboonsong, a project’s head, gave a report on the origin of the project. Assoc. Prof. Woottikrai Boonkoom, an assistant dean of the faculty of agriculture, presented a welcome speech and thanking note to honorable guess including; Professor Supachai Patoomnakul, a vice president for innovation and enterprise, and Mr. Wanus Taepaisitpong, an executive of Betagro Public Ltd. Company, who allies with KKU in establishing the insect development project. The buddies are now researching on the development of organic waste decomposing insect using Black Soldier Fly (Mermatia Illucens L.).
