KKU presents honorary awards to outstanding researchers and renowned Sarasin researchers, ready to propel research works at the international level

December 24, 2021 – Khon Kaen University by the Research and Graduate Study Section and the Division of Research Administration held a ceremony for presenting awards to outstanding researchers and renowned Sarasin researchers for 2020. Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University presided over the ceremony with Prof. Monchai Duangchinda, Ph.D., Vice President for Research and Graduate Study and Prof. Phewphan Maleewong, M.D., Assistant to the President for Research and Graduate Study. KKU administrators, researchers and distinguished guests attended the ceremony, which took place at Rachawadee Resort and Hotel.

The ceremony for presentation of outstanding researcher awards and renowned Sarasin researcher awards was held under the research-university policy and strategy. KKU uses research as the means for development and administration of different missions of the University and supports outstanding research works by giving prizes to researchers to demonstrate the University’s appreciation towards the researchers who have carried out, with dedication and sacrifice, good research works that bring reputation as well as benefits to Khon Kaen University. The works of these researchers have been publicized in well accepted and famous journals. This year, 31 prizes are awarded, divided into 19 silver-grade outstanding researchers, 6 golden-grade outstanding researchers, 2 diamond-grade outstanding researchers, and 4 renowned Sarasin researchers.

Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University said that Khon Kaen University has the intention to honor the University’s researchers who have carried out outstanding and significant research works that bring reputation to the University. These works are behind the propulsion of the University towards being a world-class research university. Khon Kaen University is a research university and a lot of progress and growth of the university come from KKU researchers. The researchers who received the awards this year have conducted high-quality research works and have brought success to Khon Kaen University. The event today is like the University’s paying back to the researchers who have dedicated themselves in the research works. It is hoped that the prizes will be the power behind the researchers that will drive them towards creation of more works in the future. Moreover, the successful researchers are expected to assist in developing new researchers for the University. The President ended by thanking the researchers and everyone who have cooperated in the works as well as the researchers’ families that are behind the success.

Prof. Monchai Duangchinda, Ph.D., Vice President for Research and Graduate Study explained that this awarding ceremony is organized regularly every year in order to support and promote the research works. The awarded researchers deserve the prizes because they have worked patiently and dedicatedly until the works are outstanding and published in well-known journals. This is the 9th time that Khon Kaen University has awarded the prizes to the outstanding researchers and renowned Sarasin researchers. The 31 prizes of 2021 are divided into 19 silver-grade outstanding researchers, 6 golden-grade outstanding researchers, 2 diamond-grade outstanding researchers, and 4 renowned Sarasin researchers.

Prof. Waraporn Phutalun, Ph.D., from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences said that the renowned Sarasin researcher award is the most honorary prize for her work. It shows the patience and devotion the awardees have done for the University. She is proud and happy that Khon Kaen University sees the importance of the researchers who have continuously carried out their works.
