KKU’s Digital Division comes up with an easy-to-understand real-time vaccination reporting system of university students all over the country!

The first day of the second semester, December 7, 2021 – All faculties of KKU resumed onsite instruction, but with strict precaution against the pandemic. All are subject to these measures: temperature checking, mask wearing, distancing, and regular hand washing. Prior to this during November, Khon Kaen University had compiled information related to students’ vaccination in order for lecturers to check, plan and be assured of safety before real classroom resumption.

Asst. Prof. Denpong Soodphakdee, Ph.D., Vice President for Digital revealed that as of November 2021, the lecturers who are teaching onsite can see the information before making decision on their teaching activities from the website the University has made. The website will be about the students who have received vaccination in all faculties, by selecting the faculty, program, or the course for the information.

“Lecturers can see the information before arranging instructional activities at: https://kku.world/stdvstat

This website will show how many students in the course have been vaccinated. From the latest report available, over 95% of KKU students have received vaccination. The program performed the survey by Google Form and attained the results using Power BI Program, which can analyze and summarize a great number of cases. The display will be in the form of tables and visualized graphs, enabling us to receive accurate data in short time. At the same time, we were contacted by the Ministry of Higher Education, asking us to give the report of the number of students vaccinated.”

“Altogether, 35,234 KKU students, or 95.86% have received vaccination. Roughly, 55.67% have received the second shot. Most (26.06%) received the Sinovac-Astra Zeneca shots.”

Asst. Prof. Denpong went on to explain that the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation wanted to know how many university students received vaccination and whether each university can resume onsite classes. It turns out that some universities had to make the survey using Google Form, and as it happened, some students did not fill in the information. KKU working team therefore compiled the Covid-19 vaccination of university students all over the country. It was found that 95.25% have been vaccinated, or 1,803,314 students. The information shows the percentages receiving the first shot and the second shot. Details also indicate which university has the greatest percentage of vaccinated students. The program shows the details of each university, such as at KKU, 35,234 students or 95.86% have received the vaccine and 55.67% have received the second vaccination.”

In addition to normal classroom resumption, which is now possible owing to the digital tool to provide information for lecturers, the information that is required is the result of ATK test. This will help people to arrange their economic activities more easily where safety against Covid-19 can be assured.

Asst. Prof. Denpong explained about ATK tests for thousands of people at a number of plaes within limited time that will provide the results in real time. The computation of the great data needs a digital tool. About 5000+ graduates who were receiving their degree certificates this year received ATK test. “We used the simple tool – Google Sheets, but many sheets need to be linked. We must rely on App Script, and the report must be the realtime Protect Sheets/Ranges for safety of the information.”

“The development team also talked about the extension of this for optimal benefit. For instance, if a lot of ATK tests are to be performed and used as the condition for entering a place or for joining activities, then the questions are: how can we use the results together and how much can we rely on the results? ATK tests by organizations now rely on Home Use. If this is possible, we can now easily arrange economic activities with safety from Covid-19. Linking with central information like “Mo Prom” is our team’s answer. Therefore, when we performed the ATK tests for 5000+ students, we showed the results on “Mo Prom” App in that evening. This is the use of the Ministry of Public Health’s information via MOPH-IC or MOPH Immunization Center, the central database of the Ministry for storing information related to Covid-19 vaccination all over the country. This is an important database for disease control, management during health emergencies, and the use of information for decision making by the state and private sectors that has to take into account the economic situation and public health situation at the same time. Such implementation is considered true policy setting based on databases, and can be a model for policy implementation in the future,” said the Vice President for Digital, KKU.
