Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn confers degree certificates upon the 2021 KKU graduates (Second Day)

Monday December 13, 2021 – His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn (King Rama X) assigns Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to preside over the Royal Degree Conferral Ceremony upon Khon Kaen University’s graduates of 2021 at the Golden Jubilee Convention Center. The bachelors’ degree graduates receiving the degree certificates today are graduates of the following faculties: Faculty of Education, Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Public Health, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, Faculty of Technology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Faculty of Law, International College, Faculty of Economics, and Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Nongkhai Campus.

When the royal vehicle arrived at the façade of the Golden Jubilee Convention Center at 9:00 a.m., Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was welcomed by Dr. Somsak Jungtrakoon, Khon Kaen Governor; Mrs. Siriporn Jungtrakoon, President of the Khon Kaen Red Cross; Mr. Thanet Inthapat, Khon Kaen Chief Justice; Major General Narong Suankaew, General Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division; Pol. Major General Noppakao Sommanat, Commander of Khon Kaen Provincial Police; Mr. Surapon Phetwara, Vice Chairman and Member of Khon Kaen University Council, Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, Ph.D., President of Khon Kaen University; Dr. Uanjit Panthongviriyakul, the President’s wife; members of Khon Kaen University Council, and Khon Kaen University’s administrators. Next, Her Royal Highness proceeded to the Ceremonial Hall.

After Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was seated in the Ceremonial Hall, the Deans of the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Nursing and Faculty of Sciences read out the names of the graduates of their faculties. Her Royal Highness conferred the degree certificates to this group of 1,143 graduates, before entering the reception room.

The next session was the degree conferral upon 919 graduates from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Public Health, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Faculty of Technology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and Faculty of Architecture. The Deans of the respective faculties read out the graduates’ names in that order.

Next, the graduates took the oath and Her Royal Highness conveyed the royal guidance. This concluded the morning session ceremony.

For the first half of the afternoon session, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn conferred the degrees certificates upon 895 bachelors’ degree graduates of the following faculties, whose names were read by the respective deans: Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, and Faculty of Law. Next, Her Royal Highness took a rest before resuming to the degree conferral upon another 932 graduates of the International College, Faculty of Economics, and Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies. After the graduates of the afternoon session taking the oath, Her Royal Highness the Princess then made the following royal guidance:

For the next session, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn conferred the degree certificates upon the 2021 graduates and gave a speech to the graduates, “His Majesty King Rama X has assigned me to perform this duty this year. My appreciation to all who receive the honorary degrees and prizes and all of the graduates on your success.”

“The graduates who have completed your studies must be expected by the public to possess intellect and qualities for your occupation, to work for the benefit of yourselves and the society. You will be performing your duty and other important missions. It is said that the qualities required and anticipated by the different organizations, besides the enthusiasm to improve oneself, are the vision or the ability to project into the future, and to set the future goal. The graduates can acquire vision from the knowledge obtained in your studies and from additional search, creativity, profound understanding of various information, changes, or problems. These will enable you to clearly set the future goals, both for your own and for the occupation. Then you will be dedicated to go towards the goal using the planned methods, with perseverance and integrity. Finally, you will reach your goal. This will lead to your own as well as your organizational development. Therefore, the graduates should follow the steps to acquire these qualities that will result in the prosperity in your life and your career.”

“On behalf of His Majesty the King, I wish all graduates the growth and prosperity in all aspects of life, and wish all who are at the ceremony today happiness.”

Her Royal Highness then proceeded to the reception room and offered the following people to have royal audience and present the token of appreciation: Dr. Narongchai Akrasanee, Chairman of Khon Kaen University Council – presenting Her Royal Highness a piece of local product (Thai silk); Assoc. Prof. Kriengkrai Kitcharoen, Ph.D., Vice President for Human Resources – presenting a piece of local product (Thai silk); Asst. Prof. Denpong Soodphakdee, Ph.D., Vice President for Digital – presenting a piece of local product (Thai silk); Prof. Monchai Duangchinda, Ph.D., Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies – presenting a basket of farm products; and Prof. Thidarat Boonmars, Ph.D., Vice President for Innovation and Enterprise – presenting a book on birds in the Khok Phutaka Natural Resource Conservation Area and serum shampoo ‘Oliamide’.

After the ceremony ended, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn left the Golden Jubilee Convention Center to Khon Kaen Airport.

In the academic years 2020-2021, the following number of students graduated: 316 PhD graduates, 155 graduate-diploma graduates, 971 masters’ degree graduates, and 6,452 bachelors’ degree graduates, totaling 7,894. The Royal Degree Conferral Ceremony was scheduled on December 12-13, 2021.

Khon Kaen University is ranked the 151st place in Asia and the 801st – 1000th place in the world by QS University Ranking, and the first in the country for 3 consecutive years (2019-2021) by THE Impact Ranking or Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking.
