Dr. Suntorn Arunanonchai, Chairman of the Policy Committee of the College of Graduate Study in Management said in his welcoming address about the importance of business transaction with the People’s Republic of China. “As the Chairman of the Policy Committee of MBA, I’m pleased to welcome that administrators and lecturers of over 20 universities and organizations. It is not usual for over 200 people from the business sector in Isan to gather at a seminar. It is therefore good to know that entrepreneurs and business people as well as academics are interested to learn more about the others. The topic of the meeting today, “Chinese – Thai Business Collaboration”, is of interest to all in Thailand, for we all want to do business with the People’s Republic of China, which is a big country with a big and highly advanced economic system. Although Thailand is just next door to China, we know Chinese language less than English. If we knew more, we would be able to do business with 10 Asian countries. I hope that entrepreneurs will see the importance of Chinese language and will use the language to transact more businesses. Even though China’s business is advanced and uses modern technology, I see that Thailand can still carry out businesses with China, especially in food or agricultural industries. This is because the population of China is of a great number and they have high purchasing power. The communications and transportation now are also convenient. Our two countries, moreover, are nearly similar in terms of culture and this would enable good business transactions.”
